It's not poison ivy...

I took Finley to the doctor today.
When she woke up she was whining, "boo-boo, boo-boo."
As I suspected and inspected her rash had grown.
What's a mama to do?
Call the Doctor's office for an appointment and thankfully our office does sick visits on Saturdays.
When Drew came home from basketball he said, "that looks like chicken pox."
But she's had the vaccination for it.
{Although I've heard you can still get mild cases with that.}
Dr. D. said it wasn't either of those two.
He was pretty sure it was hand, foot, and mouth disease.
He also said he's seen a little boy earlier in the week who was much worse.
And that little boy was sent to the dermatologist.

There's nothing we can do but wait it out.
And make her comfortable.
We were given an antibiotic prescription just in case it gets worse.
{But I won't be giving my kids antibiotics as long as possible because it starts a vicious, never-ending cycle of sickness and too-many trips to the doctor.}

So now, we're home and Finn's been happier today then she has been in the past 3 days.
Oh and that little boy who had it really bad, well turns out that was my nephew.

After we came home, I got to thinking, hmmmm, Drew's Opa mentioned Micah had a nasty rash on Tuesday.  Oh CRAP! So I called Jennie and confirmed that Micah picked up yet another virus from daycare.  I feel worse for Jennie though because Micah has eczema on top of the rash.  His is 3 times worse then Finn's.

Being a mommy is awesome! This part of it, not so much. But they're worth it!!

Friday Randoms

There's a saying that goes something like, "a messy house is a happy house". While that's true. For me, a messy house equals a chaotic brain and stress (not happy). I don't like being messy and I don't like it when my house gets dirty either. I'd say for the most part I'm pretty organized. And that makes me happy! I love feeling like I've accomplished something, contributed to the well-being of my house, and the well-being of my mind.  Thus the reason I haven't blogged in 2 weeks. Priorities: cleaning and playing with my kids. That and reading.  This week I read Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson and I've moved on to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I can't put it down. And I still need to pick up a copy of Bloom by Kelle Hampton.

Poison Ivy. It always makes it's way into our house via Drew's clothes. I get it because I do the laundry and almost never wash my hands after handling his work clothes.  You'd think I'd have learned my lesson after getting it about 3 times every year. But sadly, no, I haven't. What's even worse is that Finn has it. BAD. Down the back of her legs, on her behind and she has spots on her lady parts and also under her lip where it's nice and moist from her pacifier and inside her mouth.  What I've learned is that once it's in your system it can show up ANYWHERE! Which is why it's in random areas.  Poor girl! She's been so uncomfortable and hasn't been sleeping well at all.

Easter in pictures. Enough said.

Rockford, MI. This past weekend we visited our sweet friends Doug & Sarah. As usual we had a great time with them.

Teague is so proud of his monkey undies.  You can catch a glimpse of them here. It has to be said that in the morning when he gets dressed, he has to run to the full length mirror, check out the monkey on his bum and do a happy feet dance.  We love it!

"Seriously crazy wife, quit taking pictures of yourself."

10K. I'm at the end of 5 weeks into my training. Today I have a 4 mile run. Still not loving it. I love getting it done even though it still hurts, I just run through the pain.  Last night I had Drew stretch out my lower body and it felt so good.  This morning when I hopped out of bed I didn't hobble around like a little old lady. I need to start registering for more races during the summer just to keep me accountable and somewhat motivated.  Drew's running the Chicago marathon and if he qualifies for Boston again I'm making him run that one too!

Happy Weekend Friends!

Morning Snuggle

I, like most moms out there, love it when my babies want to snuggle with me!  That is until they decided to fight over who gets more of me to snuggle with.

So, I've talked about taking away Finn's pacifier - or zoogie as we call it (she calls it "googie") - before.  Obviously that was a BIG fail. I know I can't control everything and I've learned to pick and choose my battles with the kids.  In the grand scheme of things, this is a really small matter and one I'm not willing to fight.

HOWEVER, she has shone some huge interest in sleeping in a bed because at night she keeps climbing in Teague's bed to go to sleep.  There is no way I'm going to let them sleep in the same bed - yet - because they'd never fall asleep.  We'll get some bunk beds in a few months {which means I get to revamp their room soon}!  I'm really excited about that.

Happy Thursday Everyone!  We're off to my grandma's house for lunch and a walk after nap time!

Better Late Then Never.

Teague's Birthday was March 11. He turned 3.  I know "shame on you Rebecca for not posting on your first born's birthday".  But, it's better late than never.

Teague's 2nd birthday Part 1 & Part 2.

Then there's Alex, my brother who turned 15 on March 27.  My baby brother is going to learn how to drive this year.  That makes me feel SO old!

Alex's birthday post from last year.  Yep, I'm the loser sister who forgot to show up to the party! Hey!  I had some serious mommy brain last year.

Finally, before I forget. My one and only sweet nephew turns 2 tomorrow!

(Jennie, I stole this from your blog.)

Happy Birthday Micah Man!  We love you!
